The Joint Music Program choirs are auditioning singers for Fall 2025 semester.
The choir program will audition sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses (subject to openings in each part, but especially seeking tenors and basses) for the Claremont Concert Choir (MUS 173, MW 7:00-8:30 pm) and sopranos and altos for the Claremont Treble Singers (MUS 176 MW 5:30-6:45 pm).
An audition for the choirs takes about 10 minutes and consists of vocalizing, some pitch memory ear games, singing a short, familiar tune unaccompanied (like “Happy Birthday,” “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” “Amazing Grace, or another lyrical song of your choosing), and trying some sight singing. No prepared piece is required beyond what is outlined above, although you may bring your own melodic piece to sing as the familiar tune. Successful auditionees sing the familiar tune on key, and either read music or can repeat the pitch ear games well.
Auditions may be scheduled directly with Professor Kamm for the weeks of April 14-18 and April 21-24 (preregistration is April 22-24). Auditions for incoming students and any other returning students will be held August 22-27; more information will be forthcoming about August audition times.
For more information or to schedule an audition, you may email the choral director, Professor Kamm (ckamm@scrippscollege.edu or ckamm@hmc.edu).
